Please consider sponsoring and investing in our development efforts of this amazing facility that will be utilized by the town, county and region.

Our Development plan begins with our goals.   Our goal is to create an arts facility that will benefit each and every citizen of Enfield and the surrounding area.    We are a low income region that has not historically had access to arts and entertainment options, artistic training and development or beneficial employment.  First step engage a reliable architect.   Maurer & Associates, Raleigh NC, is currently preparing architecture and structural plans for the site.   Once complete they will prepare historic tax credit application packages to sell our tax credits for investment dollars.     We expect a restoration cost in the area of $3.5 million.     Our first phase is to equip and update the 2nd floor space into a restaurant/bar facility.   Once this is opened then we can continue the development work on the additional floors of the building(s).

I would like to ask you for a small token of support to help provide capital towards this venture.  To that, I am asking for even a minimal donation of $25.00 payable to Glass Bead Productions LLC.

With more and more high tech and other employers realizing North Carolina as the top destination for quality of life, Enfield on the outskirts of Raleigh is poised for similar growth and opportunity.  More often and partially due to the pandemic there is greater demand for remote working conditions.     These folks are moving to small towns like Enfield NC.    Having a top quality entertainment venue showcasing US and international films,  professional theatrical presentations and musical events will entice greater demand in our area.
The price is right and the time is now  --  These opportunity zone funding options and Historic tax credits may not be forever.    Come join us today and come for a visit and see what all the buzz is about here in Enfield NC.
Please anyone with interest and desire to help us in our endeavor locally or virtually.  We are open to ideas, suggestions or others more talented than us to make this happen.
We thank you.

THE PLAN

The property will be home to:

❖ A restaurant and bar (2nd floor)
❖ A performing arts space for movies, music, and other events (1st floor), including coffeeshop/concession area
❖ A banquet facility with a stage for events, theatre, music and conferences. (3rd floor)
❖ A boutique hotel (in a later phase)
❖ A small boutique distillery and art glass studio (in a later phase)

The goal is to provide a unique destination with multiple income streams unlike any that exists in a North Carolina historic property.  Below are first draft architectural drawings of the proposed facility upgrades.

Artist Rendering - A possibility.  This envisions the later phase including boutique hotel and distillery on the back side of the theater building.   Plus, envisioning rooftop dining/catering space.

Please let us know if you have thoughts, ideas, suggestions for future events.   we want to stress that this center is 100% about the community and we want to produce events that the public wants to see and hear.  If you want to get involved to volunteer to help make this a great venue please contact us.  You can reach us at [email protected].

PLEASE consider a financial donation if you feel that this is the type of entertainment and venue you want to take advantage of more cultural programming.  We need your help.

EPAC is launching our massive capital fundraising drive to begin the journey to providing quality entertainment and an arts community center for our citizens.   Please join us in this effort.  We need your support small and large.   On several of our web pages you will see some of the work that needs to be done to re establish this building to new building codes.   Our first round of funding will seek to raise $3,000,000+.     However this is a full scale restore of all 4 floors.  We only aim to open the second floor as a restaurant/bar.  Plus, the first floor theater space which holds approx 400 guests as a phase one schedule).   The $500k amount will insure that we can get the building secure, roofing replaced and reopen the first floor public theater successfully by Spring 2025.

Welcome to the Enfield Masonic Temple – transitioning into the Enfield Performing Arts Center (EPAC). Construction is under way to turn this magnificent Art Deco building, erected in 1926, into a state-of-the-art live music, theater, dance and film venue. The home of revolutionary fervor (the 1759 Enfield Riots) and once the world's largest raw peanut market, the sleepy rural town of Enfield is undergoing a dynamic resurgence. New people – from New Jersey, Louisiana, Long Island, Indiana, New Hampshire and Arizona – have discovered the incredible history, beauty and architecture of this small town and the newcomers (along with long-time citizens) are determined to open minds and hearts to the power of the arts in Eastern North Carolina communities.

EPAC is currently tapping into local talent and is making a commitment to inspire young children to reawaken the hidden talents that exist in this town. Historically Enfield was a hotbed of talent, innovation and even rebelliousness: Besides the infamous Enfield Riots of 1759, Enfield is the smallest town in the world to confer the eighteenth degree Mason; Governor John Branch (also Governor of Florida when it was a territory) was from Enfield and is now buried in Elmwood Cemetery; Joseph Branch, M. Victor Barnhill, R. Hunt Parker were Chief Justices of the N.C. Supreme Court; the famous "Buzzard Town versus Enfield" baseball game was held in Enfield; James Edward O'Hara, the first African-American attorney admitted to the North Carolina Bar and the second African American to serve in the United States Congress, was born and bred in Enfield; the reform movement of the North Carolina Methodist Protestant Church was formulated at Whitaker’s Chapel; even the Marquis de Lafayette stopped by the home of Joseph Branch on February 28, 1875,  to make a speech from the "Cellars" balcony, one of the many homes in Enfield on the National Register of Historic Places; Enfield is also the birthplace of Louis Austin, an African-American journalist, leader and social activist who attended the Joseph K. Brick School on the other side of Fishing Creek and who later purchased The Carolina Times in 1927 (Austin transformed the newspaper into an institution that aided African-Americans in their fight for equality in the 1950s and 1960s).

We welcome you to discover this vibrant, emerging town. And please follow EPAC on social media – or, even better, stop by and volunteer your time and know-how. We are currently developing eclectic programming and we want your input. Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming film festival in October.
